"Hurricane" by The Crazy Daysies
Rebecca Day and The Crazy Daysies take you on an intimate, contemplative journey focused on legacy and the force of nature powered with human choice and will
“I’d leave behind nothing but a name, if I were a hurricane.”
The day my bandmate (and sister) Jen brought me the lyrics to “Hurricane,” I knew she had created something special. It remains one of our top requested originals. Our “Daysie Fam,” as we lovingly call our supporters, always love getting to hear us perform the tune live.
It’s an intimate track with a lyrical focus. Not much is needed to round out the power ballad except for acoustic guitar and Jen’s viola fills.
The weighty song was a bit of a change for her. She writes amazing, fun songs. But this one pulls you into one heck of a stormy ride with its opening lyrics:
“If I were fearless,
I’d be relentless.
Cross every line in that sand,
And never ask for forgiveness.”
With a striking duality focused on living a life possessed of unbridled power, but realizing the reality of choice and consequence as seasons progress, no metaphor is more fitting for exploring one’s inner-battles than that of a good, old-fashioned southern swell sweeping in from the Atlantic.

Like the soul pushed into a corner of our mind where it refuses to surcomb to the outside pressures it will bust forth with a fury like a hurricane, but will subside with a whimpering sigh.
