An excellent summary of our current predicament... and the disruptive solution that @Substack provides for curious minds willing to pull back the curtain and see the world beyond partisan narrative shaping. Kudos!
Thank you for writing this, Rebecca! I learned a lot from your essay about Substack as a medium.
As a reader, I strongly prefer print versions of anything I read (with a red pen in my hand to underline, write questions in the margins, and otherwise "dialogue" with the content). For example, even while reading pieces such as this one online, if I find it of value to think about more deeply, then I print it out and write on it while re-reading it. My handwriting is far faster and more accurate than my typing, but I also retain content much better when I physically see it all before me and write on it.
As a writer, though, you have persuaded me to look into this medium as one possible outlet at some point for at least some of my briefer work.
Thank you so much for reading Carrie-Ann! I am the same way as a reader, I much prefer physical over digital! It creates a deeper experience for me (there's nothing like the smell of a new book or freshly printed newspaper). I hopped around on different online platforms for awhile trying to find a place that I could publish at as a content creator. Up until Substack I struggled immensely because I couldn't find anywhere that had both an easy publishing process, and an alignment with my philosophical principles. Thankfully, Substack accomplished both. I'm hoping, if my little Substack ends up growing steadily, to ultimately do a yearly release of the most popular articles, subscriber favorite pieces, and personal favorites in physical book format via an independent publisher such as Amazon. That way I'm keeping some form of the physical alive as I build things out digitally. I'm honored you took the time to read my piece and I look forward to your future writings as well (maybe build off of your Daily Spark content? I love how inspirational it is!).

Thank you so much for reading, Joel! I so enjoy your work. Your wisdom and reasoned thinking is an antidote to the chaos. Cheers!
