Editor and founder Rebecca Day explains why Classically Cultured is different from the rest
What is Classically Cultured?
A return to liberty, beauty, and individualism.
First of all, welcome! I’m honored you are checking out my humble corner of the Substack universe. I started Classically Cultured for a few different reasons. The main reason is that I wanted a homebase where I could publish my original material, all types of material, from songs and essay collections to articles and podcasts, about all the things I’m passionate about—On my own terms. As an independent musician and writer, freedom is my ultimate goal, not fame or fortune. Substack’s philosophy is right in line with mine, making it an ideal home for all of my original work.
The term “classically cultured” has a few different meanings. From the classical periods of antiquity like Ancient Greece and classical music to “classic” Great American Novels and “classic” music like the delta blues and vintage country—I cover it all here.
There is an underground revival happening right now. People are returning to the humanities. They want art that wasn’t designed in a program. They want music without autotune. They want to read books that weren’t written by A.I. I hope that the content I provide to my wonderful supporters here at Classically Cultured is a part of this paramount revival.
So if you’re in the mood for content sent straight to your inbox featuring original music, commentary on “the classics,” literature, art, and culture, I’d love for you to subscribe.
And if you’re still not quite sure, check out some of my work featured on Classically Cultured below. Cheers!

Glad you like the ancient Greek song.
Just to note: some scholars now think the Seikilos song was not an epitaph, and Euterpe was the name of the Muse to whom he dedicated his 'many-noted' song.https://antigonejournal.com/2021/12/song-of-seikilos/
