An in-depth commentary on a woman I've never heard of but now wish to familiarize myself with. Thank you. I grew up in a cold climate near the Candian border, so this notion of how Bishop seems to have embraced the cold resonates with me.

Thank you so much for reading, N.J.! Bishop is one of my all-time favorite poets, and her work is such that it is graspable yet each revisit reveals new enlightenment. It's interesting because a large body of her work deals in themes of cold and ice, but after her move to Brazil, the tone and themes of her poetry shifted to reflect the warmer temperatures. The land encompassing the US/Canadian border is so beautiful and the area is on my bucket list to visit, especially in terms of the views of natural beauty that are offered :)

Her work is a time-worn favorite for me. Really enjoyed the contrast between Rich's "interpretation" and Gioia's first-hand experiences. Nice work.

Thank you so much! I was a but surprised by Rich’s interpretation. I thought there’d be more objectivity to it.
